Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The collection and availability of data on the epidemiological situation regarding possible risks (biological, physical, or chemical), with which veterinarians, food business operators, and all the actors involved in the food industry have to face daily, represent important means for improving decision-making processes and for the sake of the public health. From this point of view, the slaughterhouse is considered an epidemiological observatory that provides continuous information on diseases in the area, zoonoses, and the outcome of preventive measures. Therefore, we are pleased to invite you to take part in a Special Issue “Animal Epidemiological Investigation and Slaughter Management”, a theme that fits well into the journal scope “Agricultural product health and safety”. The Special Issue aims to establish a collection of papers that will be of interest to scholars in the field. In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following: (i) epidemiological assessments detectable on farms and by slaughter; (ii) the effects of animal welfare on meat quality during transport and slaughtering; (iii) the main risks identified during slaughtering and control measures carried out; (iv) the control of foodborne disease during slaughter; (v) technological innovations applicable to slaughter; (vi) International and European regulation on Animal Welfare and its impact on slaughter management; and (vii) environmental implications related to slaughter management.
