Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article can be recommended for publication after correcting the following points:

The arcitle name can be changed. For example, "contribution/yield estimation...", "modeling/consideration of Cherenkov radiation...". Do you need "scintillation" in the title?

line 28: "2.7 electron beam"?

line 32: "2.7 MeV" Why exactly 2.7? Add [setup] reference?

line 56, figs.1a,1b descriptions, change the places. And m.b. add a) and b) brief descriptions in the fig.1 title?

line 70: GEANT4 - add references? And why exactly GEANT4? Dont you have any other options for ray tracing modeling? Describe its advantages for you task.

lines 84-88 - not much text, suggest to add more, especially about the amount of traces, conditions of reflection/scattering, possibilities of propagation in the PMMA media and so on. Fig.2a raises many questions.

line 101: "Fig.3a" ?

"We experimentally obtained, the electron beam..." - general advice for here and in the whole text - get some English corrections.

Author Response

Thank you so much for your review.

line 28: I added MeV

line 32: I removed information about the microtron beam and added a new sentence about decreasing energy compared to paper [13] in line 44

line 56: I corrected it

line 70: I added information about the program at the beginning of the Theory section

line 101: it's changed

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper aims to The yield of Cherenkov and scintillation radiation generated by the 2.7 MeV electron beam in plate PMMA samples. The Cherenkov radiation (ChR) intensity pre-dominates over scintillations including wavelength shifting and cathodoluminescence quenching in pure poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) for such electron energy. In general, the paper can be recommended for publication with revisions. Some comments for revisions are given below:

1.     The language of manuscript should be further polished.

2.      Although the work of this manuscript has valuable contribution to the science and practical application, the author should emphasize the significance of the work in the manuscript.

3.      There are some grammatical errors in the manuscript that need to be modified.

4.      Refine the article and Refined abstract, concisely and accurately elaborate the content of the manuscript, reduce redundant expressions.

5.      Some of the latest references are recommended reference in Introduction. For example:
