Preface of the 8th International Electrical Engineering Conference 2023 ^†

The Department of Electrical Engineering at NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, in collaboration with the Institute of Engineers Pakistan (IEP), organized the yearly International Electrical Engineering Conference on June 16th and 17th, 2023. The theme of the conference was “ASpiring Pathways In ElectRical Engineering (ASPIRE-2023)”. This was a hybrid-mode event, combining online and physical participation. The conference was spread over two days, including an inaugural session, technical sessions and closing session. ASPIRE-2023 aimed to bring together academics, scientists, researchers and professionals from the industry, both locally and internationally, to exchange and share their experiences, ideas and findings on various aspects of Electrical Engineering. The conference invited authors to submit original technical papers for presentation and publication, with all accepted and presented papers set to be published in IEEC proceedings.

The conference had many guests during the opening and the closing sessions, along with keynote speakers. The first keynote speaker was Prof. Mai Ruikun from the School of Electrical Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, Sichuan, P. R. China. The title of the talk was “Wireless Power Transfer System for Powering Embedded Sensors in Reinforced Concrete Structures”.

The second keynote speaker was Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Shahrel Azmin Sundi@Suandi who is Dean and Professor at the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. The title of his talk was “Q-Learning Embedded Sine Cosine Algorithm (QLESCA) for Engineering Applications”. Moreover, there were several industrial talks given by people who have excelled in industry and academia. A notable invited talk was delivered by Dr. Mirza Muhammad Ali Baig, titled “Adversarial Attacks on Artificial Intelligence and Their Possible Defenses”.

The conference organizers are very much thankful to the dignitaries, speakers, guests and colleagues who voluntarily participated in the successful organization of the event.
