Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors,

It was very interesting work for me and I enjoyed reading it. I have no doubts that the work is valuable - it has scientific and educational value.

Machine learning models are very actual please describe better this method for the readers in the section introduction.

Manuscript title: Machine learning models and videos of facial regions for estimating heart rate: a Review on Patents, Datasets, and Literature

Dear editor/authors,

This is a well-designed and well-written paper reviewing patents and current evidence on facial analysis estimating heart rate. This paper has considerable potential to contribute to the relevant literature. Nevertheless, some points should be reviewed to strengthen the scientific merit and quality of the study.

1- Overall risk of bias of the publications included, should be briefly mentioned.

2- The time frame (years between…) of the searched publications and datasets should be given.

3- Future directions and recommendations should be given in more detail since this field of science has substantial potential to take effect in clinical practice.

4- Specific limitations inherent to the method should be presented.

Reviewer 3 Report

This is a review paper on facial regions recognition and it is linked with the heart rate. It is valuable in several aspects - not only with the critical review of the related works but also with the provided links to data sets.

The introduction needs a change - to make a smooth motivation and not only to give primarily definitions of key concepts.

Could any graphs be shown for the use cases?
