Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

  • Some grammatical errors were detected, authors need to re-check the manuscript.
  • Define abbreviations at first mention, such as RF in Line 41, LDPC in Line 66, CRC in Line 158, please check for others.
  • Authors need to strongly define the contribution of this paper in the Introduction Section.
  • Authors need to strongly define the superiority and drawbacks of this method compare with other methods in the Introduction Section.
  • Since S, R, and D was already mentioned in the Introduction Section, it’s need to be defined before section 2.
  • Please clearly explain about the function of the frozen bits and how to choose the frozen bits that implemented in the proposed method.
  • Authors mention that “The interference of atmospheric turbulence on the performance of bit error rate and outage probability of communication system can be suppressed by increasing the polarization code length and using cooperative communication mode, which can be applied to solve the problems of strong turbulence and obvious performance degradation of long-distance communication system.” However, increase code length will also increase the system complexity and cost that will become technically problem. Please explain how to overcome this problem.
  • Please add Channel Conditions parameter to Table 1. It is suggested to use standard from International Telecommunication Union.
  • In the Conclusions section, authors can propose some future works in this topic.
  • Reference 9, 11, 12, 18-27 were not cited in the body text. All references in the references list need to be cited in the body text of the paper.
  • There are some references that older than 10 years, please change it with recent references.

Author Response

Point1: Please clearly explain about the function of the frozen bits and how to choose the frozen bits that implemented in the proposed method.

Response 1: The frozen bit of polarization code is the information set transmitted by the subchannel with channel capacity of 0 after channel splitting in polarization coding. The information set is known by both sides and is mainly used to adjust the code rate. In the scheme proposed in this paper, the selection of freezing position can be obtained from equation (12).Thank you!

Point2: Authors mention that “The interference of atmospheric turbulence on the performance of bit error rate and outage probability of communication system can be suppressed by increasing the polarization code length and using cooperative communication mode, which can be applied to solve the problems of strong turbulence and obvious performance degradation of long-distance communication system.” However, increase code length will also increase the system complexity and cost that will become technically problem. Please explain how to overcome this problem.

Response 2: This paper mainly carries out system level simulation, and does not involve the problems of system complexity and cost. We will focus on this work in the next research progress. I hope the teacher understands, thank you!

Point3: Please add Channel Conditions parameter to Table 1. It is suggested to use standard from International Telecommunication Union.

Response 3 : I have presented the fixed parameters of the simulation in Table 1, and other channel conditions have been realized in the simulation as variable parameters. I'm sorry that I didn't find the channel conditions of free space optical communication system in the International Telecommunication Union standard. If you have better suggestions, I will continue to revise the paper according to your suggestions. thank you!

Reviewer 3 Report

According to this reviewer’s opinion, this manuscript is suitable for publication in Electronics on the understanding that the authors will elaborate the manuscript complying with the comments that are listed below:

  1. The literature review in the Introduction section should be expanded.
  2. The Conclusions section should include more details regarding the presented results. For example some bulletpoints can be included for the readers to better understand the research outcome.
