Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The submitted Manuscript is touching a significant problem of energy storage for mobile robots. The authors present a wide review of different methods of energy storage as well as wide variety of mobile robots operation issues. While the scientific level of the paper is decent, the structure of the Manuscript needs some significant improvements. The current structure of the text, in particular the sections and subsections order, is characterized by total lack of clarity. Some detailed comments ale presented below:

1) The sections and subsection of the Manuscript should be reorganized. Some sections, e.g. "2.2. Energy Storage", "2.2.1. Types of Rechargeable Batteries", "2.3. Battery Technologies" discuss very similar topics and I do not see any reason to separate the abovementioned subsections.

Some subsection include one, literally ONE sentence (e.g. "3.2. Hybrid Mobile Robots", "4.2. Energy Efficiency of Mobile Robot") what does not make any sense to separate them as a subsection.

2) Paragraph 2.1 should be moved to section 3 as it is far more relevant to "Power Requirements for Mobile Robots" rather than "Mobile Sources of Energy for Robots".

3) Section 3 should be placed before section 2 to preserve some logical continuity - "sources of energy for robots" are the consequence of "the power requirements of robots". The subsections should be reduced to e.g. "Energy storage and battery technologies", "Battery management", "AI-based Optimization of Robots’ Power Management" and case studies.

4) The number of subsection in section 3 and 4 should be reduced.

5) The conclusions section should be restructured to emphasize the original work of the Authors (the algorithms for energy source selection) with the case studies and other conclusions resulting from the literature review.

Reviewer 2 Report

The article is very well written. Some explaintion regarding the following is expected to be in the article. kindly add the following explaination in the article so that it becomes a complete pakage of readers.

  1. How does the efficiency and performance of batteries impact the overall power system of mobile robots?
  2. What are the current limitations of mobile robot batteries and their impact on the development of mobile robots?
  3. Discuss in brief the impact of diiferent battries on the system, i.e. li-ion, dry, lead acid etc
