Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

A brief summary

The article examines a program for automatic generation of rebar parametric model in Revit, which improves the modeling efficiency and modeling accuracy of rebar engineering.

General concept comments

The article is well readable and is easy to understand. The introduction section of the article provides a clear literature review with the minor reservations listed below. I have no comments on the Methods chapter. The results chapter requires the most intervention and revision. It is necessary to better describe the results achieved, especially what is the main result of research in the context of interaction with mixed reality. The Conclusions chapter is sufficient, but it can be improved after modifying Results chapter to support the results by presenting the main scientific findings in the context of MR.

Specific comments

References in the Introduction chapter are often combined, [14,15] [16-18] or [19-21]. It would be appropriate to always reference the current text with a specific single source.

Rows 52 to 71: In my opinion, conducting a review of Revit is too targeted towards only one platform. Although Revit has been applied, it is only one of many tools that can be used. I would welcome a more comprehensive survey in the literature review, not only in the context of Revit, but rather in terms of the methods, utilities and other tools used, as well as their combinations.

Row 57: Is it not clear how energy consumption models relate to the topic of the article?

Row 156: There is no explanation for the abbreviation WPF as well as NPOI toolkit when they are first used.

Row 472 to 473: It is stated that: “A variety of optimization algorithms can be used to optimize the steel bar cutting method, such as linear programming methods, genetic algorithms, etc.” What type of optimization (if any) was used in this article? If not used, what is the relevance of this brief statement?

Row: 486: It is stated that: “If the computer configuration is general, it may take a long time to load.“ What do you mean by "general computer configuration"?

Row 511 to 527: Chapter 7 acts as a manual or guide without giving specific results. What is the subject of „Interaction with the Revit model in mixed reality“? It is not clear from the results chapter how mixed reality exactly contributes to the research concept, or whether its use is relevant. Examine and explain the relevance of the MR solution used.

Row 517 and Figure 12: The telling ability of Figure 12 (Mixed Reality Toolkit) is zero. This is a picture of an advertising character.

Row 528 to 532 and Figure 13: It is not clear what is the subject of the Interaction with the Revit model in mixed reality, as shown in Fig. 13. It is necessary to better and in more detail explain the use of MR in the context of this figure.

Reference 27: There is an error in the author's last name.

The article is devoted to solving an actual applied problem using information modeling technologies

The introduction provides a brief overview of the use of information modeling and mixed reality technology.

«The research in this paper is mainly based on Revit. The use of Revit software in the  field of construction engineering combined with other software can run through the entire  project life cycle from early conceptual design, mid-term visualization, force analysis to  post-construction, improving the efficiency and accuracy of project construction….»

It is necessary to justify the use of this software. To improve the article in the methodology section, you can present a table with a comparative analysis of the properties of other software products.

Since the advantages indicated in the introduction are not complete.

Line 167 and the C# programming language is recommended…

it is advisable to expand the sentence for what exactly the programming language is used. Add a description of the module written by the authors in C# language since the conclusion also states that the programming language should be used C# (line 547)

Thank you for your suggestion , We have made changes based on comments.

The article has been improved in the methods section, a new table has been drawn in the text, the software products are compared and analyzed, and a summary is made.

Sentences have been expanded, and descriptions have been added to the C# language, and which modules are written in the C# language. In fact, all program-related content in this article is the c# programming language used.

All modifications are simply marked in red in the article.Thank you for taking the time to review my article.

Your case is BIM applied to a sublime issue. There have been a lot of such considerations in the literature recently. Nonetheless, it doesn't make your achievements less important.

The concepts of VR, AR, and MR are in the background of your considerations. These are specified at the beginning of the manuscript, while MR is used in Section 7. It is good that you are making reference to these concepts.

Revise the ABSTRACT. This abstract contains instructions on how to use the model. This is a misunderstanding.

The slogan: "Promote the sustainable and healthy development of the construction industry" (lines 18 and 19) is bizarre. The abstract is not a dump.

In the spirit of the comments above, please revise the entire manuscript. There are many repetitions, there are punctuation errors.

Take note that there should be fewer commercial remarks about your model in favour of scientific remarks.

Comment on the potential benefits of your method in the DISCUSSION and CONCLUSION.

Also identify and expose "Intelligent construction" literature on the "building site".

Author Response

Thank you for your suggestion ,We have made changes based on comments.

The abstract has been edited. Modified the part introducing the use of the model, and deleted the last sentence that is rather bizarre.

The article has been checked, I'm sorry for my punctuation mistakes. We do not know if official language editing services from MDPI are required. Hope to get your opinion.

A description of the benefits of our approach has been added to the conclusion of Chapter 8.

Some references on smart construction including building sites have been added to the introduction.

All modifications are simply marked in red in the article. Thank you for taking the time to review my article.
