Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The manuscript "Endophytic Methylobacterium mesophilicum reduces Xylella 2 fastidiosa growth due to nutrient competition" analyzed the physiological and molecular aspects of M. mesophilicum SR1.6/6 and X. fastidiosa 9a5c in coculture, comparing with single strains culture. The results are very interesting, and points toward the molecular mechanisms involved in this interaction.

The paper needs significant improvement, and all my comments are highlighted in the document submitted.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The authors report an in-depth study that reveals the molecular and ecological interaction between Xylella fastidiosa and an endophytic fungus, namely Methylobacterium mesophilicum.

The authors applied a series of basic and fundamental technoques to decipher their interaction in vitro.

The data they showed are very robust and the conclusions they reached are well supported by the data shown.

I have just a remark concerning the Figure and Table captions. The author should name the microorganisms with their complete name: Xylella fastidiosa and Methylobacterium mesophilicum (not abbreviated Xf and Mm).

Author Response

Dear Microorganisms Journal Office,

Please find attached a fully REVISED version of the Manuscript ID: microorganisms-2633460, for your further consideration for publication in MDPIm - Bacteria Associated with and Causing Diseases in Plants.

We appreciate the valuable contributions of the reviewers and their suggestions on our work. As you will see in the revised version attached, I believe we have improved the English and altered the manuscript accordingly as suggested by the reviewers.

Yours sincerely,

We thank the reviewers’ comments. We implemented the suggested modifications by adding “Treatments Xf: X. fastidiosa 9a5c; Xf+Mm: X. fastidiosa 9a5c + M. mesophilicum SR1.6/6; Mm: M. mesophilicum SR1.6/6.” to all figures and tables caption.
