Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Line 51: I suggest to add some more recent studies in similar issues,  Vasileiou et. al 2019 (Sarigkiol basin), Dermatas et.al 2014 (Vergina), Remountaki et.al 2016 (Psachna)

Line 90: average values? from both wet and dry seasons? Maybe you have to be more precise

Line 104: delete Se

Line 114: not A, replace with Al

Line 137: id shoots? maybe in shoots

Line 145 and 149: you have to correct these two sentences

You have to decide in the tables how many decimals digits you will put, to be the same in all tables.

Line 170: delete Se, after 88 μg/l

Line 185: coastal

Line 188:not costal replace with coastal

Line 263: references missing  concerning fly ash and the leachate in groundwater....Vasileiou et al.2019, Tsioptsias et.al 2020, Dermatas et.al 2012

It is necessary to add a paragraph concerning the groundwater quality, remarks about some concentrations e.g. Cr, Na, Mg. If you have analyses for Cl- or NO3- in groundwater, I suggest to add them to the relative table. There is a discussion about a coastal aquifer without concentrations of major ions concerning seawater intrusion.

There is not a clear connection for Se, between soil-groundwater-plants , it is a little confused

Reply: Analyses for Cl or NO33- are not available to include them. Differences between contaminated coastal groundwater and drinking/sea water are now discussed.

There is not a clear connection for Se, between soil-groundwater-plants , it is a little confused

Reply: Parts of the sections 3.2, 3.3, 4.1 and  4.2 were re-written, hoping  that the relationships between Se in plants and soil are clearer now.
