Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This study investigated the efficiency of a novel chitosan oligomers–hy-droxyapatite–carbon nitride nanocarriers for encapsulating an extract from Uncaria tomentosa bark for postharvest fruit protection in five species. I regret to recommend that the manuscript is not acceptable for publication in its present form. All detailed comments and suggestions can be found in the attached file.

Comments on “Uncaria tomentosa-Loaded Chitosan Oligomers–Hydroxyapatite–Carbon Nitride Nanocarriers for Postharvest Fruit Protection”

General comments

It is a research article to produce a bioactive natural product, the study focused on the evaluation of novel chitosan oligomers–hydroxyapatite–carbon nitride nanocarriers for encapsulating bioactive natural products, specifically an extract from Uncaria tomentosa bark. I think the article can be accepted after mirror revision.

Comments

1. The authors should state the novelty of this article compared with other articles from some aspects, such as cost, reliability and so on;

2. Introduction. Page 2, lines 69-75. I think that this is a solid introduction overall, though it would be interesting to have more background on the nanoparticles loaded with natural antimicrobial agents and more recently published papers should be cited;

3. Keywords should be a little more precise and detailed;

4. Discussion 4.5. Page 16. The results of the discussion need to be combined with the results of the recently relative literature for stronger argument;

5. In conclusion, the authors should not only repeat the results and the hypothesis of research must be explained in order to support the research.
