The authors did a great job to summarize the recent development of hydrochar with its production technologies and applications. This manuscript did well organized, with up-to-date reference, which can be considered to be accepted after some minor revisions. Blow listed some points that you can consider to be revised

1. please modified the figures, such as font size, and the background color, such as Fig. 1, size of the font should be adjusted to become similar to the manuscript, and fig.2 please keep the same font size for the name of the chemicals.
2. for figure 2, for the structural formula of the chemicals, please make it more clear
3. please double-check the front of the whole manuscript, and make its universe. such as page 9, lines 331-341.

In my opinion, the authors have reviewed the existing technologies and applications of hydrochar, which is an emerging area for research for an alternative source of energy for future. Authors are drawing attention from the readers using pathway diagrams, comparison tables and schematics and a academically sufficient amount of valid and relevant literature. I found the article is informative and the authors have performed a sufficient critical analysis of existing research.
