The authors would like to make the following corrections about the published paper [1]. Because the content of the study of Dr. Meredith McQuerry has been translated and revised from Chinese texts by many people, the original meaning could have been lost during the translation process. The misquoted Dr. Meredith McQuerry part of the article has been removed. The changes are as follows:
(1)
Replacing the original version:
During a U.S. evaluation of NFPA 1975 turnout gear, 80% of the 1800 firefighters surveyed understood the risks of wearing uncertified base layer garments (i.e., synthetic materials that will melt or drip), whereas 45% responded that they were not required to wear certified equipment [13]. This problem is also present in Taiwan, where the capital of Taipei has 1243 firefighters and only 349 unexpired sets of turnout gear [14]. Taiwan’s regulations require that firefighter clothing, hats, and shoes must be replaced every three years, masks every four years, and air cylinders every ten years. However, due to budget shortages, expired equipment remains in use.
with:
In Taiwan, there is a problem that firefighters wear expired fire protection equipment on duty, where the capital of Taipei has 1243 firefighters and only 349 un-expired sets of turnout gear [13]. Taiwan’s regulations require that firefighter clothing, hats, and shoes must be replaced every 3 years, masks every 4 years, and air cylinders every 10 years. However, due to budget shortages, expired equipment remains in use.
