Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The submitted manuscript is a nice art of predictive modeling of Larix species. I have some suggestions before it get published

Introduction: Update the references. Give the proper justification why used bio climate variables

Methods; Why you used Maxent over random forest and ensamble model explain it. How you fixed the over fit of model, reguliraztion gain is not well defined, discuss how you fix it. Higher AUC means over fit of model.

Results: Criteria for categorizing suitability value.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper struck me as a well prepared, well presented, and appropriate example of the use of MaxEnt to  predict future species responses to climate change.  Although doing this is in itself not very original in a general sense, the specific choices and  region are fascinating and illuminating.   Most of my comments are on the MS.   In general one addition I though might help, space permitting, is more general contextual info on the three Abies species, and maybe more on the region too.   Was the CSV of the present locational data in the supplementary materials?  If not, that would be beneficial.  I enjoyed the paper and feel it needs relatively little change.  Thank you for the opportunity
