This is a very interesting manuscript on a new species of the orchid from the genus Bulbophyllum from Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia. Finding a new species of orchid from this genus there is highly probable considering that probably this is one of the richest areas with about 300 species of Bulbophyllum with more than 150 endemic species.
The Introduction is very well written.
The Latin specific name of the new species needs to be corrected. As it comes from “Abang Joe” who is a man, the correct genitive is ‘Abangjoei’ with the final one ‘i’ (i.e., not ‘Abangjoeii’ with the final double ‘i’).
The Latin diagnosis for several years is not required (English diagnosis is enough), which does not mean that it is forbidden. Therefore, I am very happy that the authors have made the effort to write the diagnosis in Latin. However, for now it is a little incorrect linguistically and should be corrected to (final caps letters show which word endings need to be corrected but finally they should be normal small letters):
Bulbophyllum abangjoeI affinis B. membranifoliI subsp. inunctI (J.J.Sm.)
Great figures/photographs. Nice to see them.
The English needs to be corrected, for example, in lines 202-203: ‘a small groups’ should be ‘a small group’ or ‘small groups’; ‘Bulbophyllum species belong to in’ to be ‘Bulbophyllum species belonging to’, etc., and for example, ‘1-flowered’ better to be ‘one-flowered’ (as the numerals from one to ten should rather be written in full in sentences if they are not measurements), etc.
Congratulations to the Authors for this new species finding.
