Dear Colleagues,
The concept of vaccination has progressed considerably since its introduction more than two hundred years ago. While traditional approaches have saved millions of lives, to combat rapidly evolving viruses such as influenza and coronaviruses, as well as the sustained use of candidate vaccines, a new method of designing vaccines is required. Immunoinformatics combines computational approaches to indicate variation in pathogens and provide knowledge on the immune system, and could facilitate the design of novel vaccine candidates with improved broad-spectrum effectiveness against emerging pathogens and their variants. The field of immunoinformatics is still in its infancy, but it is expected that experimental data from vaccine candidates designed using immunoinformatics approaches will help standardize immunoinformatics-based vaccine design strategies.
COVID-19 has forced researchers to explore the use of immunoinformatics for designing vaccine candidates, not only for COVID-19, but also for several other pathogens.
This Special Issue aims to present an invaluable collection of papers on recent trends and developments in the rapidly evolving field of immunoinformatics. We welcome papers on any subject area related to “immunoinformatics”, and encourage researchers to submit work containing experimental data on candidate vaccines designed using the immunoinformatics approach.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Vaccines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
