Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Neutrino oscillation is an intriguing phenomenon that evidently indicates there are new physics beyond the Standard Model. It arises from the mixing between the flavor and mass eigenstates of neutrinos and introduces at least six new parameters to our model of particle physics. Luckily, it’s an effect that be manipulated in our laboratories. There have been tremendous efforts invested in the global community to probe neutrino oscillations by using various neutrino sources and detection technologies. These experiments have narrowed down the allowed ranges of neutrino mass splittings and mixing angles. However, many questions remain unanswered and require further exploration of the unknown space. Do neutrinos follow a normal ordering or an inverted ordering? Do neutrino masses and mixing have new symmetries? Do neutrino oscillations violate charge-parity? To address these problems, precision measurement becomes a requirement. It demands larger and more precise detectors, and deeper understanding of the production and detection mechanisms of neutrinos. This special issue is dedicated to discussing the status and prospects of current and future neutrino oscillation searches, as well as the implications to particle physics, astronomy, cosmology, et al.
