Dear Colleagues,
There is a great deal of literature on theological aesthetics and similarly with regard to the importance of the decolonial turn for religion and theology as well as the notion of the globalization of religion. These two different points of view have seldom been brought together into a unified vision or even considered as a starting for methodological reflection. This Special Issue will begin to address this lacuna. Submissions can either focus on the intersections that need to be interrogated in a particular locality, work of art, discipline or on the methodological problem of defining theological aesthetics against a global horizon in itself. The problem of attending to the wounds of those who have been marginalized by the Eurocentric and neo-colonial focus of theology and aesthetics is also a welcome point of departure for reflection.
I request that, prior to submitting a manuscript, interested authors initially submit a proposed title and an abstract of 400–600 words summarizing their intended contribution. Please send it to pjc36@duke.edu. Abstracts will be reviewed by the editor for the purposes of ensuring proper fit within the scope of the special issue. Full manuscripts will undergo double-blind peer-review.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Religions is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
