Dear Colleagues,
The increasing understanding and knowledge of the detailed mechanisms underlying carcinogenesis provide new strategies and opportunities to fight against a pathology affecting millions of people worldwide. Selective “targeted therapy” has emerged as one of the most effective approaches in this research area and makes it possible to counteract the specific mechanisms of tumor genesis and progression, leading to the identification of small molecules capable of modulating specific cell signaling processes which are altered, and which are therefore responsible for the disruption of the normal mechanisms of the regulation of cellular homeostasis.
Many projects, following different strategies, have been focused on the identification of small molecules capable of interacting with innovative biomolecular targets, considered particularly strategic in the context of tumor processes. Targeting selective biomolecules can minimize the toxic effects on healthy cells.
The main aim of this Special Issue is to collect and illustrate the recent developments in the field of the identification of target-directed new molecular entities endowed with interesting biological behavior and considered as promising drug candidates.
We invite all researchers working in this field to contribute original articles presenting the results of their research endeavors. Reviews covering the main aspects of the topic are also welcome.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
