Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The resolution of global environmental issues demands the advancement of energy and environmental sciences. Catalysis has a transformative impact on such fields, playing crucial roles in pollution abatement and industrial carbon-footprint reduction. Progress in the development of catalytic process necessitates not only the scaling and deployment of technologies for their end use, but the advancement in understanding of fundamental science of the catalysts and the extension of that knowledge to materials that exhibit enhanced catalytic performance. From a practical point of view, such developed processes must offer cost-effective solutions. In this context, research interests on catalysts of Earth-abundant elements as replacements for noble metals continue to accelerate; however, such a replacement must also accompany facile catalyst synthetic protocols that enable mass production, as well as alternative chemical reaction pathways that employ cheap feedstocks. Extensive efforts are underway to develop such affordable catalytic systems with the aim of expanding the current knowledge in this area. Given the gravity of this topical area, we are pleased to invite the contribution of original research, communications, review articles, and perspectives to the Special Issue, “Towards Affordable Catalysis in Energy and Environmental Science”.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Inorganics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
