Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology into precision agriculture has revolutionized the way farming is approached, and has enhanced our ability to make data-driven decisions for more sustainable and efficient agricultural practices. The use of interconnected devices, sensors, and data analytics within the agricultural context has opened up exciting possibilities for optimizing resource utilization, enhancing crop yields, and minimizing environmental damage.

In this rapidly evolving field, we invite researchers and experts to contribute to our upcoming Special Issue, entitled "Applications of IoT Technology in Intelligent Farms". This Special Issue aims to showcase innovative research, methodologies, and applications that leverage IoT technologies to address challenges and explore opportunities within precision agriculture.

Potential topics for submission include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. IoT-enabled sensor networks for real-time environmental monitoring in agricultural contexts.
  2. Integration of drones and autonomous vehicles equipped with IoT devices for precision agriculture tasks.
  3. Data fusion and analytics from heterogeneous IoT data sources for decision support in precision agriculture practices.
  4. Smart irrigation systems and water management using IoT solutions.
  5. IoT-based applications for pest and disease monitoring and early detection in crops.
  6. Edge computing and AI-enabled IoT solutions for on-site data processing in precision agriculture.
  7. Blockchain applications to enhance traceability and transparency in agricultural supply chains.
  8. Energy-efficient IoT devices and communication protocols for agricultural monitoring systems.
  9. Scalability, security, and privacy considerations in IoT deployments for precision agriculture.

Submissions should present original research, reviews, or conceptual frameworks that contribute to the advancement of IoT technologies in the context of precision agriculture. We welcome both theoretical and practical contributions, with an emphasis on real-world applications and experimental validations.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
