Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In recent years, significant progress has been made in cardiovascular imaging, revolutionizing the diagnosis and management of cardiac conditions. Cutting-edge technologies have emerged in the field of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and cardiac computed tomography (CCT), enabling a better understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease. CMR is considered the gold standard for the assessment of cardiac function and characterization of myocardial tissue abnormalities. Novel imaging acquisition and post-processing techniques introduced new quantitative biomarkers, which are expanding the role of CMR in the diagnosis, prognostic evaluation and clinical decision-making in many cardiovascular diseases.

CCT imaging is being revolutionized by tremendous technical progresses, resulting in faster scans, greater anatomical detail and the ability to characterize myocardial structural changes previously precluded.

Furthermore, the advent of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications hold promise in optimizing the image analysis, moving toward more personalized patient care.

This Special Issue will focus on:

  • New and innovative technological applications (photon-counting CT, FFR CT, perfusion imaging, 4D flow magnetic resonance, artificial intelligence);
  • Advancements in technology for diagnosing ischemic, non-ischemic and congenital cardiovascular diseases;
  • Added value of imaging biomarkers in risk stratification and patient management.

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue entitled “Latest Advances and Future Directions in Cardiovascular Imaging” with original papers and review articles.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
