Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Pancreatic cancer is the second-most-frequent gastrointestinal malignancy and carries a poor quality of life and prognosis. The current standard of care is surgery resection, if possible, as well as systemic chemoradiation therapy in locally advanced, unresectable disease. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is a well-established and valid technique for the diagnosis and staging of pancreatic cancer. Therapeutic EUS for the treatment of pancreatic neoplastic lesions is a rapidly expanding field with different options, including fine needle injection therapy, radiofrequency, cryothermal ablation and brachytherapy. A complete review of alternative EUS-guided ablative techniques will be extremely valuable in providing new directions for upcoming research.
