Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the upcoming Special Issue titled "Non-coding RNAs in the Tumor Microenvironment," to be published in Cancers. This Special Issue aims to explore the pivotal role of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in the dynamics of the tumor microenvironment (TME), a key factor in cancer development, progression, and response to therapy.

In recent years, significant advances have occurred in our understanding of ncRNAs, including microRNAs (miRNAs), long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), circular RNAs (circRNAs), etc. These molecules are now recognized as the crucial regulators of gene expression, impacting various cellular processes relevant to tumorigenesis, such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, metastasis, and angiogenesis. Despite this progress, the complex interactions between ncRNAs and the components of the TME remain an area warranting further exploration.

This Special Issue seeks to highlight cutting-edge research that unravels the intricate roles of ncRNAs in modulating the tumor microenvironment. We seek contributions that provide novel insights into how ncRNAs affect the behavior of cancer and stromal cells, their communication with immune cells, and their interactions with the extracellular matrix. Furthermore, we are especially interested in studies focusing on ncRNAs within extracellular vesicles, which play a crucial role in intercellular communication and have emerged as potential targets for innovative therapeutic strategies and biomarkers for cancer.

We invite original research articles, reviews, and brief communications that address the following topics:

  • Mechanistic studies on the role of ncRNAs in the TME.
  • The impact of ncRNAs on immune evasion, tumor progression, and metastasis.
  • The potential of ncRNAs as biomarkers for cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy response.
  • Innovative therapeutic approaches targeting ncRNAs in the TME.
  • Crosstalk between ncRNAs and other molecules or pathways in the TME.
  • The role of ncRNAs in extracellular vesicles and their impact on the TME.

We look forward to receiving your contributions to this Special Issue and to advancing our collective knowledge on the critical role of non-coding RNAs in cancer biology. Together, let us uncover the secrets of non-coding RNAs in the tumor microenvironment and pave the way for novel cancer treatments.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
