Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Cervical cancer (CC) is a major public health problem, ranking as the fourth most common cause of cancer incidence and mortality in women worldwide. There are geographical variations in cervical cancer that reflect differences particularly in the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Squamous cell carcinomas account for approximately 80% of all cervical cancers and adenocarcinoma accounts for approximately 20%. The management and treatment of cervical cancer has been recently updated by ESGO/ESTRO/ESP in “Guidelines for the management of patients with cervical cancer - Update 2023”. However, there are still many gray areas that need to be resolved and there are still many novelties in the therapeutic field (both considering surgical and adjuvant radio/chemo- therapy) that need to be explored. As examples, we can cite the role of minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy–robotic) for the treatment of locally advanced CC, the role of sentinel-node evaluation by ultra-staging, the safety and efficacy and adjuvant chemotherapy after definitive CTRT, new advances in immunotherapy, etc.

We are pleased to invite you to publish in our Special Issue that will cover all debated topics relating to the advances in CC diagnosis, management and treatment. For this Special Issue, original research articles, systematic review and meta-analysis are welcome.
