Gastrointestinal cancers represent a pervasive global health concern, exerting a considerable impact on a worldwide scale. This category encompasses a spectrum of formidable malignancies, including colorectal, gastric, esophageal, hepatocellular, pancreatic, and biliary tract cancers. Despite strides in therapeutic modalities being grounded in an expanding application of precision medicine, the prognosis remains bleak, particularly in advanced stages, where the five-year survival rate is dishearteningly low. This Special Issue is a responsive initiative addressing the urgent imperative for a more profound comprehension of the factors governing prognosis and predictive outcomes within this intricate landscape. The elucidation of molecular intricacies and clinical nuances, particularly in the advanced stages, holds paramount significance for the advancement of targeted therapeutic strategies and improved patient stratification. This becomes imperative in a scenario where conventional interventions frequently demonstrate inadequacy.
Various types of articles, including reviews and original research contributions, are welcomed. Specifically, we encourage clinical investigations that dissect nuanced prognostic factors, in-depth analyses of molecular signatures delineating clinical outcomes, exploration of cutting-edge therapeutic interventions guided by a nuanced understanding of advanced-stage prognostic considerations, and pharmacological and translational research bridging the bench-to-bedside gap by translating molecular discoveries into clinically actionable prognostic tools. It is important to note that studies reporting solely on analyses of publicly available datasets will not be considered. Join us in fostering a paradigm shift in the management of advanced gastrointestinal cancers through a rigorous scientific inquiry.
