Synthetic Biology and Bioengineering

A section of Biomolecules (ISSN 2218-273X).

Section Information

The Section Synthetic Biology and Bioengineering of the open access journal Biomolecules (ISSN 2218-273X) publishes original research articles and reviews at the interface between engineering and biology. The section welcomes contributions reporting advancements of synthetic biology and engineering in microbial organisms, design and synthesis of new genetic circuits and gene products, redesign of systems already present in nature, and creation of new biological devices or systems inspired by nature.

The main areas covered by the Section Synthetic Biology and Bioengineering include but are not limited to:

  • Design of genetic systems and circuits;
  • Genome and gene synthesis;
  • In vitro and cell-free synthetic biology;
  • Biomolecule engineering;
  • Metabolic engineering;
  • Viral engineering;
  • Tissue engineering;
  • Bioprocess and biosystems engineering;
  • Organs and organoids engineering;
  • Engineering of non-model organisms;
  • Biomolecule production and biomanufacturing;
  • Mechanobiology.
