Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue is designed with the aim of activating a collaboration between the journal Algorithms and the community around the International Conference on Computational Science and its Applications, with particular reference to ICCSA 2023, Athens, Greece, which will be held on 3–7 July 2023 (https://iccsa.org/). Computational science is the main pillar of most current research and industrial and commercial activities, and it plays a unique role in exploiting innovative information and communication technologies. The ICCSA community manages to merge different disciplines while respecting the peculiarities of the various groups. The deep connection that is frequently forged between researchers often leads to their participation in joint projects and to the synergic blending of skills and resources.
This Special Issue aims to focus on the algorithmic aspects of computational science. Algorithms are the backbone of computational science, and their development and optimization are crucial for advancing research in various fields. The scope of this Special Issue includes but is not limited to the design and analysis of algorithms for optimization problems, machine learning, data mining, image and signal processing, computational geometry, and network analysis. It also covers the development of new algorithmic paradigms and their applications in various fields.
This issue seeks original research articles that address algorithmic challenges and present new algorithmic techniques, as well as review articles that survey the current state of the art in various algorithmic domains. The papers should demonstrate the practical relevance of the algorithms and their potential impact on solving real-world problems. The Special Issue is a great opportunity for algorithm researchers to showcase their latest findings and contribute to the advancement of computational science.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Algorithms is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
