We are delighted to announce that the Journal of Sensor and Actuator Networks (JSAN, ISSN: 2224-2708) is starting to accept a new article type, data descriptor, to be considered for publication.
A data descriptor is a peer-reviewed article that describes and links scientifically valuable datasets. It contains a description of a dataset, including the methods used for collecting or producing the data, where the dataset may be found, and information about its use. This article type is designed to be citable, thereby granting researchers due credit for their data contributions. Moreover, it aims to enhance the discoverability, interpretability, and reusability of datasets within the scientific community. A data descriptor provides information needed for interpretation, links one or more trusted data resources where data files, code, or workflows are stored, fulfills a significant part of funders’ data management requirements, and uses open licenses that enable reuse.
