Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I was excited when I read the abstract and introduction. Sadly I was subsequently disappointed...

There is a one paragraph section on 'results'.

Please move the actual results of your findings from the discussion into the results section. Also these results need expanding.

Then you can have a discussion!

Reviewer 2 Report

Most of the publications on burn injury treatment focusses on infection prevention, surgical management, permanent and temporary wound coverage, hypertrophic scar prevention and mitigation and largely achieved through hemostasis, inflammation control, immunomodulation etc. Very few researches focus on nerve reinnervation post burn injury.

This is a very good efforts to collect information on regaining nerve sensibility in burn injury patient.

However, post-burn sensibility loss and possible strategies to achieve neuronal regeneration and regaining nerve sensibility depends on severity of burn injury. Healing process may results in different consequences depending on burn severity.

Major problem in collecting such information is heterogenicity which authors have confirmed in the manuscript.

Dear Reviewer #2,

Please find below our comments, corrections and appropriate links regarding your comments and suggestions for review regarding our manuscript entitled “Out Of Touch” - Recover Sensibility after Burn Injury: A review of the literature by Savas Tsolakidis, Ziyad Alharbi, Hans Oliver Rennekampff, Markus Schmidhammer, Robert Schmidhammer and Rudolf Rosenauer.

The problem of heterogenicity of the studies included has been mentioned.

We would like to thank the reviewer pointing out the heterogenicity of studies.

Most human studies included, according to the inclusion criteria represent retrospective analyses. Experimental comparative studies were largely animal studies. The authors aimed to identify possible experimental approaches and clinical strategies to improve nerve reinnervation in burn patients.

We have restructured the result section and devided the results into animal experiments and human studies.

Sincerely yours,

Savas Tsolakidis, M.D.

The paper is wel

The text is well written and deals with a very interesting topic. Certainly it is impossible to do a proper systematic review but I would suggest reorganizing the modalities by including cross-referencing and the following PRISM statement

Dear Reviewer #3,

Please find below our comments, corrections and appropriate links regarding your comments and suggestions for review regarding our manuscript entitled “Out Of Touch” - Recover Sensibility after Burn Injury: A review of the literature by Savas Tsolakidis, Ziyad Alharbi, Hans Oliver Rennekampff, Markus Schmidhammer, Robert Schmidhammer and Rudolf Rosenauer.

The reviewer suggested a reorganization of the review, inclusion of cross-referencing and Prisma checklisting.

The review has been reorganized and replenished. Cross references have been integrated.

With such heterogenicity of publications and only one clinical report on an inter-vention we did not aim to perform a systematic review or metanalysis according PRISMA criteria.

This review represents a narrative review.

Sincerely yours,

Savas Tsolakidis, M.D.
