Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I think the article can be published in STATS magazine but I have some questions:

i. Why have they focused on the case of Colombia, can it be applied in another country or worldwide?

ii. Will the data be expanded to regions that were not available?

Author Response

We appreciate a lot the comments, questions, and suggestions on our manuscript.

Next, please find a comprehensive list of answers to your questions:

Question 1:
Why have they focused on the case of Colombia, can it be applied in another country or worldwide?

Response: One of the authors has Colombian nationality, which explains the special interest in Colombia. The methodology could, however, be applied to other countries subdivided into regions or even to a global context, if we consider each country as an internal region.

Question 2:
Will the data be expanded to regions that were not available?

Response: So far, we have not explored this possibility, but we may study it so in future works.

In addition to responses, full English proofreading was also performed on the entire manuscript.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript is written clearly but needs some modifications to be more improved. For example:

Is it "covid-19" or "Covid-19" ? Please unify in the whole manuscript.

In Figures 2 and 3, the vertical dotted Red line is not clear enough. Please clarify.

In equation (3), please define all variables/symbols. The basis functions and the constants should be declared clearly.

Equation numbers cited within the text should be written within parenthesis e.g. Equation (3) not Equation 3.

Hilbert space L2([0,1]) or L2[0,1] ? Please unify the writing style.

Some paragraphs are not ended with a follow-stop.

Author Response

We appreciate a lot the comments, questions, and suggestions to improve our manuscript.

Next, please find a comprehensive list of actions taken based on each of your suggestions and comments:

Comment 1: Is it "covid-19" or "Covid-19" ? Please unify in the whole manuscript.

Response to comment 1: Your suggestion has been implemented. "Covid-19" has been unified in the whole manuscript.

Comment 2: In Figures 2 and 3, the vertical dotted Red line is not clear enough. Please clarify.

Response to comment 2:  In Figures 2 and 3, both dotted red lines have been marked again. Also, the two figures have been captioned for clarity.

Comment 3: In equation (3), please define all variables/symbols. The basis functions and the constants should be declared clearly.

Response to comment 3:  It has been implemented according to your suggestion. A detailed description of equation (3) has been included.

Comment 4: Equation numbers cited within the text should be written within parenthesis e.g. Equation (3) not Equation 3.

Response to comment 4:  Your suggestion has been implemented. Parentheses have been added to the cited equations numbers.

Comment 5: Hilbert space L2([0,1]) or L2[0,1] ? Please unify the writing style.

Response to comment 5:  It has been implemented based on your suggestion. Throughout the manuscript, L2([0,1]) is used.

Comment 6:  Some paragraphs are not ended with a follow-stop.

Response to comment 6: Your suggestion has been implemented.  A review of follow-stop inclusion has been completed, and where necessary, it has been included.

In addition, full English proofreading was also performed on the entire manuscript.
