Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This work had presented a review on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the construction field.

Pros:

1. This review is interesting and captures the essential information about the various utilities of UAVs in the construction industry.

2. This review manuscript is presented well and its structure and arrangement is appreciable and most of the parts are easy to follow.

Cons:

1. The abstract shall be enhanced with addition of concise details about the  major findings or trends found as a result of the study and a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions.

2. Add suitable information on the “shortcomings of the existing reviews” in the introduction.

3. Make sure that the text in the figure 1 is arranged and placed uniformly.

4. Label the contents of figure 2, 3, 4, and 5  and also clarify whether these diagrams were originally generated or taken from the existing literature.

5. Include suitable references for the information presented in table 1 and 2. (Add a separate column for the references)

6. Figure 7 seems to be taken from the existing literature. Clarify whether there is appropriate permission for reusing this diagram.

Reviewer 2 Report

Summary/Contribution: " This paper provides a thorough examination of the latest developments in the use of UAVs for monitoring and inspection in the construction industry, including a review of the current state of UAVs and an exploration of the types of drones and sensors applied and their applications, as well as highlighting the technological advancements in this field."

Suggestions/Comments:

1. The paper is well-written and covers an interesting topic.

2. The abstract is relatively short compared to the length of the paper. It may be extended.

3. Please add a short paragraph at the end of the introduction that indicates the structure of the paper.

4. Please indicate the sources of Figures 2, 3 and 4.

5. Line 159: "Sensors equipped with UAVs" ===> "UAVs equipped with sensors"

6. Line 240: "TI Sensors" ===> Please explain the origin of the abbreviation TI

7. The authors may include a new table which provides the meaning of all the abbreviations used in this paper.

8. Every subsection of section 3 needs to be summarized in tabular form.

9. The authors need to add a short paragraph about the security aspects of drone communications.

10. For this purpose, they may include the following references (and others) in their study:

a. https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9842403

b. https://www.mdpi.com/1424-8220/21/6/2057
