Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper is a survey paper. It reviews the signal processing methods of the UOWC system. It is interesting for the UOWC research field. As a survey paper, the authors should discuss challengs of UOWC receiving algorithm, and the research directions in the future.

The writing is easy follow.

Reviewer 3 Report

1. The authors provide a brief introduction to different types of UOWC systems based on the channel configuration, and they focus on various recent studies on advanced signal processing methods in UOWC systems, including both traditional non-machine learning (NML) equalizers and machine learning (ML) schemes based on neural networks. In addition, we also discuss the key challenges in UOWC systems for future applications.

2. In the table 1, comparisons between three underwater wireless communication technologies should be demonstrated in detail.

3. In the table 2, recent surveys and the comparison with this paper should be demonstrated in detail.

4. In the figure 10, schematic diagram of the proposed TFDNet should be demonstrated in detail.

5. Revise the English thoroughly before submission.

Moderate editing of English language required.
