The manuscript deals with an interesting topic and uses appropriate data and methodology. Some minor changes and clarifications are needed for the study’s potential contribution to be shown. In particular, the authors might wish to
1) Section 2.1., the authors need to justify the selection of the particular variables using appropriate references from the available knowledge in the field.
2) Please expand and rewrite section 2.2 so as to better illustrate the anticipated interrelationships and consequently justify the choice to use SEM.
3) Part 3.1 should better be placed on the materials and methods section as it is ‘case study information’.
4) At the empirical estimations a discussion of sample homogeneity is missing. Also please provide a description of the socio-demographic and economic profile of respondents. Please explain how the study controls for these factors and their effect on social capital levels.
5) I would suggest that the authors use an English speaking editor in order to correct the text for minor syntax errors.
6) The abstract could be written in a tighter manner

Please ensure the English editing of the manuscript. As the topic is very contextual, I would recommend adding some more explanation of the main topic to contextualize and make it easy to understand for readers who are not familiar with the Land use issue in Indonesia.
