The Role of Green Innovation in the Effect of Corporate Social Responsibility on Firm Performance

The aim of  paper is to aimed to test corporate social responsibility on firm performance with green innovation as a mediation.

The significance of the paper: An important and well-defined research problem, unique research area - the impact of the research performed on the existing state of arts are poor.

Paper form: Clear and precise language, correct terminology, the accuracy of references,, articles from reputable journals - used in the paper are good.

Detailed review:

-    Abstract: the abstract section needs to be rewritten again. “The abstract should be …………………………. 3) Results: Summarize the article's main findings; and 4) Conclusion: Indicate the main conclusions or interpretations”. Points 3 and 4 should be corrected. The description of the results and conclusions too trivial, do not comply with the requirements of the MDPI publishing house.  The abstract should present much better the research methodology and the main results obtained.

- No article structure in the introduction

- Figure 1. Conceptual Framework among Corporate Social Responsibility - it’s very difficult to evaluate -  improperly embedded in the text.

- Methodology: The data was used for 2016-19. Due to the fact that we already have 2022, is it not too old data? Isn't it worth using newer data?. In addition, authors need to justify their study methods selection.

- How do you position your research and the results obtained in relation to another international research? I think a discussion section is needed.

- Moreover, no comparison sufficiently with other similar studies is described. The authors need to describe the unique contribution of their work compared with state-of-the-art approaches.

- More critical analysis and established evidence (not own source) is needed to support the claims in this study.

- Discussion & Conclusion: Both sections should be rewritten again. At first, Authors need to discuss their findings and link them back to the demonstrated literature in section 2. In addition, the study's contributions to both practical and theoretical levels are not clear - the conclusions are trivial. Second remark - there should be more in-depth research conclusions causes and effects.

I recommend that this paper not to be accepted without major revision.

The paper examines the effect of corporate social responsibility on firm performance and the mediating role of green innovation. However, my comments and suggestions are as follows:

1.The implication should be added in the end of the abstract.

2.What is PROPER? (line 5)

3.The contributions should be more specific.

4.The authors just describe the minimum and maximum of the variables in Section 3.1. What do they mean deeply?

5.What are the theoretical contributions of this paper in the conclusion section?

6.The practical implications should be strengthened in the conclusion section.

7.There are still some mistakes in this paper.

Abstract give some contextualisation to the problem before the aim of the study

Aim under abstract To test the effect of corporate social responsibility on firm performance with green innovation as a mediating variable

Used PROPER companies in the period 2015 to 2019

“”This study used PROPER companies in 2015-2019, selected using pur- 5
posive sampling method, involving annual reports and financial reports, so that 253 companies 6
were obtained as samples””. This needs to be rephrased and corrected for language

 

Introduction:  it should be  “”A company’s commitment (first line)

Put references in the first few paragraphs of the Introduction section

Through an excellent program of environmental care, the com- 26
pany can improve its reputation, image, and credibility as well as have a positive impact 27
which leads it to achieve awards and increase share prices for stakeholders  PUT REFERENCE

 

Methodology

The population in this study was 370 PROPER companies in 2016-2019 from the In- 257
donesia Stock Exchange. Sample selection was done using the purposive sampling 258
method, generating a sample of 253 companies. HOW WAS THE PURPOSIVE SAMPLING DONE. WHAT FACTORS ARE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION IN DETERMINING THE SAMPLE

 

CONCLUSION SECTION SHOLD INCLUDE SECTIONS FOR THEORETICAL IMPLICATIONS, PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS, LIMITATIONS AND AREAS FOR FURTHER STUDY
