Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The presented publication seems particularly strong in terms of the development and production of CoCr alloys, which are indispensable for dental implants, with SLM, an innovative mass production method. However, I believe that some deficiencies should be corrected before the publication.

-Where did the CoCr powders procured from and what size and purity? Same for Al2O3 powders.

-'milling' should be used for 'grinding' in the whole the text.

-In the head of 2.3.2, I think Figures 2-4 should be changed to Figures 3-4.

-ball milling parameters (rotation speed, milling process time, ball powder ratio, ball and chamber materials, etc.) are not specified.

-I could not understand how the sphericity of the powders applied with ball milling did not disappear and Al2O3 particles were deposited on it by milling.

-Hasn't a research been done on the hardness of composite materials?

-English used in the study should be improved.

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript proposes the calculation of the interface bonding properties of Al2O3/CoCr metal matrix composites using the first principles. Components with different percentages of the elements were produced by selective laser melting (SLM). The phases in the Al2O3/CoCr metal matrix composites and the microstructure were analyzed.

The work is interesting and well-structured. It should be considered for publication in this journal after a minor review taking into account the following points:

·         There are some typos in the text (i.e. gamma-Co instead of γ-Co). Please review the document.

·   In the abstract, please revise the sentence “The phases in the Al2O3/CoCr metal matrix composites of selective laser melting (SLM) and microstructure of it, which provides a research method for modifying the properties of traditional CoCr alloys.”.

·  Figure 4 is not consistent with section 2.3.2 in which it is inserted.

· Please add the process parameters used for manufacturing the components via SLM.

·   In section 2.3.2, the use of the word “forming” is misleading. Please replace it with "manufacturing" or "production".
