As an open and inclusive journal, Coatings has published many articles on lithium-ion batteries (Coatings 2022, 12, 1912; Coatings 2022, 12, 1515). At the same time, the content of our article fits the theme of “Processes for coating deposition and modification”. Therefore, we think this article is suitable for Coatings.

According to your suggestion, we have modified Figures 5 and 7 to improve the quality.

This paper examines the benefit of using bio resources to the preparation of both Li2MnSiO4/C  and Si/C positive and negative electrodes for Li-ion batteries. There is an overall lack of clarity in this manuscript and some very important details are missing

The electrode loading (in g/cm2) is missing and must be added for both materials in the experimental part.

In Figure 1, the SEM images should be at the same scale. If not the comparison between materials is meaningless. Also the authors should indicate the amount of carbon in the presented materials. 

TEM/EDX does not improve the paper. It could be substituted by more in-depth SEM (influence of carbon content for instance)

The benefit of using diotomate is not obvious for the synthesis of LiMn2SiO4. because the high porosity of the diotomate is not maintained in the final product which is confirmed by the N2 adsorption-desorption curve (BET).

Please provide the cycling conditions for LMS/C, fig 7a is confusing. Why is the voltage fluctuating so much during charge? Is it 1st cycle, what about the subsequent cycles?

We have added more discussion on SEM images in the revised manuscript as following descriptions, and marked it with green color.

The diatomite we used has complete shape, and the micropores on the wall are uniform in size and arranged in an orderly manner. It is an exquisite natural porous material (Figure 2a). The diatomite in the shape of a round cake has rich and well-developed honeycomb porous structure (Figure 2b).

We have added discussion and references (41, 42) of glucose in introduction. Glucose is a good carbon source that can build a three-dimensional conductive carbon network inside the materials, further improving the electronic conductivity of the materials.
