Authors have developed a new similar material by utilizing the orthogonal experi- 15 mental design method to conduct a series of proportioning tests. 

1) Authors have done a good job with a new similar material for foundation pit excavation model 354 tests.

2)The values of me- 365 chanical parameters of the new similar materials are widely distributed.

3) According to my point of view if four-point bending tests are used then it will strengthen the results more.

4) Authors can also further extent the work with more use of gypsum powder and alcohol so that cementing property will increase.

This manuscript evaluates the “Development and Application of Similar Materials for Foundation Pit Excavation Model Test of Metro Station”. The manuscript is elaborately described and contextualized with the help of previous and present theoretical background. All the references cited are relevant to this area of research. The methods/analytical study are clearly stated. The result and discussion section are clearly presented. The manuscript needs major revision and require the following modifications before the acceptance.

1. Tell your research recommendation at the end of abstract.

2. Remove the key word ‘similar materials’ and increase the number of key words.

3. What is the novelty of research?

4. Table 4. Use 3 in superscript in g/cm3. Check it throughout the manuscript

5. Fig.5a, change g.cm-3 to g/cm3

6. Compare your results with existing studies.

7. Present the recommendation of your research at the end of the conclusions.

The first formula (1) contains notations C_epsilon, C_f, etc.

The following discussion used these notations.

But, I did not find the definition of these notations. I have started the reading of the paper several times and, unfortunately, cannot understand the contents of the paper from the formal point of view.

I kindly ask the authors to define all the notations used in the paper.
