In the published paper [1], Figure 7 seems similar to Figure 11a published in the journal Annals of Anatomy [2], and Figure 11a [1] seems similar to Figure 7d of the paper published in Dentistry Journal [3]. The authors provided explanations for the similarities that were not accepted by the journal editor. After thorough investigation, the journal has therefore made the decision to retract the paper [1]. The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Office of the Applied Sciences have checked the case, and the Editor-in-Chief has approved the retraction.
The Applied Sciences Editorial Office apologize to the readers of Applied Sciences for any inconvenience caused. To ensure the addition of only high-quality scientific works to the field of scholarly communication, this paper [1] is retracted and shall be marked accordingly. MDPI is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and takes very seriously the responsibility to enforce strict ethical policies and standards.
