Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The alternative functions of antiscalants can be explored and discussed. But it is better not to conclude it as source of nutrients., which will confuse people working on biofilm. Or maybe emphsazie the potential change of surface properties for biofilm growth (ref: Ref:Quantitative characterization and analysis of granule transformations: Role of intermittent gas sparging in a super high-rate anaerobic system)

Overall, the manuscript has been largely improved. Reviewer suggested a minor revision last time, and it now is a only minor wording in conclusion. It is recommended to be accepted after the small editing.

Reviewer 2 Report

As I suggested in previous review, the article is well constructed and written. I recommend the publication of the work in the current form.
