Round  1

Reviewer 1 Report

The design and analysis of Hirth couplings are well presented in this paper. The theoretical method mentioned by the author are verified by the experiment, which can leave a high reference value for the relative work.

There are some minor modifications that to been made by the author.

1.       Some figures in this paper are not quite clear, and pictures with high resolution need to be provided.

2.       Figure 4 and figure 5 are suggested to be changed into Table 2 and Table 3.

The overall recommendation is accept with minor modifications.

>Q: […] The paper is well written and interesting, however from a technical point of view the paper cannot be accepted for publication in the present form. Some minor revisions are necessary.

>>R: Thank you very much for the appreciation of our study.

>Q: 1. A nomenclature should be added to help the reader.

>>R: A nomenclature, including all the symbols, has been added at the end of the Manuscript.

>Q: 2. Figures 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 15 and 16 are too small and their size do not allow to read the text inside them.

>>R: Following also the recommendations by Reviewer 1, these figures (and other ones) have been improved in terms of resolution, overall dimension, sketch visibility and symbol readability.

>Q: 3. Other minor revisions are reported in the marked-up manuscript.

>>R: Some editorial corrections have been done.

Best Regards.
