Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report (Previous Reviewer 1)

Thank you for taking note of the comments, now the article looks ready for publication.

Reviewer 2 Report (Previous Reviewer 2)

The authors have substantially improved the manuscript. All my concerns were addressed and language much improved, such that it can now be easier understood. I recommend accepting this manuscript.

This manuscript is a resubmission of an earlier submission. The following is a list of the peer review reports and author responses from that submission.

Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The Loess Plateau is a very interesting area for researchers in terms of climatology, as well as the influence of aerosols on the state of the atmosphere. The article is devoted to the analysis of temporal and spatial variability of cloud frequency, cloud optical thickness and cloud effective radius over the area under consideration. The potential reason for cloud regional character over Loess Plateau was also discussed and reserved for future research.

In any case, the results presented in the article can be useful at least for verifying the results of calculations in global models of atmospheric circulation.

А few remarks

1)     Moderate English changes required

Mostly in introduction.

2)     Lines 143-145 and further

“Although there is no c loud frequency dataset in H-8, we calculated cloud frequency (CF) in space and time scale respectively. To capture distribution of CF, we calculated CF in the time period for every pixel.”

Please, describe calculation method.
