Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors,

The study is insightful, and the contents are generally very well presented. A few issues, however, should find your attention.

1. Section 1: please elaborate the research gap you identified, and in particular the context of using graphene oxide (GO), in more detail.

2. Section 1, paragraph 1, last sentence (“Furthermore, pH values lower …”): please kindly provide a reference for the statement made by this sentence.

3. The material currently presented as supplementary information in one external file should be included in the main publication file, as Annexes to the main work.

Reviewer 2 Report

Comments and Suggestions for Authors:  Authors did a great job. The paper is well written but there are some major flaws in the manuscript, which needs to be addressed, pointed below.

1. The introduction is quite poor in the case of presenting techniques and materials used for improving the recovery of overloaded anaerobic batch reactors.

2. Before using abbreviations, it is necessary to provide their full forms during its first occurrence. For example, the expanded forms of TS, VS  FOS and TAC have not indicated even once. Check all such abbreviations in the paper.
