Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The author submitted a manuscript, “An Autonomous Diagnosis Method of Semiconductor Power Switch Open-Circuit Fault in Three-phase Grid-connected Photovoltaic Inverters based on NGO-HKELM”. Which employs an autonomous diagnosis technique for three-phase grid connected PV inverter semiconductor power switch open-circuit faults. Current study is Presnted systematically but Author needs to answer the following comments:

·       There are lots of other fault diagnosis method, authors need to clear that how this method is superior than other methods.

·        In Figure 17 (b), (c), and (d) justify the difference between actual and predicted datasets.

·       Similarly, there is lots of difference between actual and predicted datasets in Figure 18 (c) and (d). Provide more relevant justification.

·       Present study does not present the actual methods of fault detection which is a biggest limitation of the study.

The language of the paper needs to be revised.

Reviewer 2 Report

The following concerns should be addressed by the authors:

1) The significance and importance of this research should be introduced briefly in the abstract, not only the applied methods. Also, some quantitative results should be presented in the abstract section.

2) Authors should use more recent papers (2020-2023) in the literature. Also, in addition to explaining each one, according to the existing research gaps, explain the novelties of the current research.

3) In the Introduction section, the contributions and research gap of each study should be presented and compared accurately in a Table format.

4) Table 4 should be cited.

5) How are modeling errors included in the proposed strategy?

6) The obtained numerical results should be compared and validated with the literature.

7) The English of the paper should be checked by a native.

Reviewer 3 Report

This paper presents an interesting application of machine learning techniques to the detection of PV inverter component failures. I have no technical objections, but strongly suggest the following improvements:

- Place all review-related material in a separate section.

- Remove all text and figures that are not pertinent to the application envisaged in the paper. For example, the description of PV inverter controls does not seem essential to the work.

- Define the acronyms when they first appear in the main text.

There are English mistakes which require extensive revision. Furthermore, if possible, the text should be made less verbose.

Author Response

Dear reviewer, thanks for your valuable comments and suggestions. We have heavily revised the format and writing style of the updated manuscript. Unrelevant figures and paragraphs have been removed.

Congrats on your study. There are few topics which are;

1- NPC vs H-Bridge operation. What happens to the DC source? Are the input voltages and currents investigated?

2- For reproduction purposes; more data, literature and explanation on the NGO-HKELM must be added.

3- Application of the algorithm formulas can be explained more to promote future researchers.

Reviewer 5 Report

This study is very interesting.I suggest some comments as the following:

(1) The author should cite more references related to your research in recent years

(2)The author should explain clearly that this study avoided the use of sensors and what improvements were made in performance.

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors revised the manuscript, "An Autonomous Diagnosis Method of Semiconductor Power Switch Open-Circuit Fault in Three-phase Grid-connected Photovoltaic Inverters based on NGO-HKELM" according to the suggestions given by the reviwers. Now the manuscript is considered for publication.

Minor grammer corrections still required.

Reviewer 2 Report

All my concerns are satisfied and the paper is suitable for publication.
