Comments and questions

1. It would be useful to imagine how the Navier –Stokes equations turned out to be a system of equations (1 – 3) or to give a link.

2. How are ???, ???, ???, ??  determined?

3. Briefly indicate the method of numerical solution.

1. Abstract needs to be rewritten. The first sentence is 8-line long. Same comment applies to many places in the manuscript. During revision, please consider to avoid using long sentence that makes the manuscript hard to read.

2. L38, 7.09x10^6 kW

3. L39-L40. Could you provide the numbers comparing to the worldwild?

4. L42. "Foreign" is not very appropriate to use...

5. L48. -->". Subsequently, ..." break the long sentences into short ones.

6. L82, abbreviation has been defined previously in abstract, no need to define it again.

7. "1.3 Model setup" Is there a reference to the simulation package or the released version of it so that people can reproduce the work?

8.L112. Could you elaborate more on why considering the areas as a whole could improve the accuracy?

9. L165, "...the average current velocity... is 1.2~2.08m/s...", the average usually is a single number, why it is a range here?

10.Table 1. Better to unify the units in the table and the entire paper.

11. Fig.7 what do the x and y axises mean? Please consider to use scientific notation.

12. "Conclusion": In "(3)", you conclude that there are multiple things causing the influences on the tidal energy. It would be better to quantify the impacts from the individual.

13. The paper describes a way to study the tidal energy, but some discussions could have been deeper: How would this method be applied and contribute to the field? What would be the benefit of performing such studies? Are there things not being considered in the current analysis but could be added and improve the future studies etc.

14. L52-L67. Please use references properly, there is no need to list and summarize other people's work in the manuscript.

1.     What’s kind of marine simulation tool is used in this paper, it needs to be clearly presented, or the software the author developed?

2.     For the simulation set part, how is the grid size choose, and what the effect of the grid size on the simulation results.

3.     What are the specific conditions of the marine environment in this paper? It should be more clearly showed.
