Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Thank you for giving me the opportunity of reading the work “The Impact of Family Factors on Children's Mental Health during Home Quarantine: An Empirical Study in Northwest China, it has been a very big pleasure to collaborate reviewing this manuscript. The topic of this paper is very interesting and it seems necessary to delve it. However, there are several questions to improve before to publish it. I would suggest some changes:

Title and abstract

  • Your aims should be included at the beginning of the abstract (1 or 2 lines).

Introduction

  • Dear colleagues, the structure of the introduction is clear, congratulations.
  • When you explain the signs of psychological distress and mental health as a result of COVID-19, I consider necessary to add more data and references. I recommend you to add this paper recently published (https://doi.org/10.3390/ijerph18147422), which proposes COVID-19 pandemic as a PTSD.

Method and results

  • More information about you sample is required. A summary table could be a good idea.
  • Your research and results are fantastically developed and explained, congratulations.

Discussion

  • In my humble opinion, it could be useful to describe in more detail the practical and theoretical implications of this research. Moreover, contextualize better the contribution within the framework of the issue would be advisable to explain why the contribution is useful and enrich the impact.

Conclusions

  • It would be useful to do a concluding statement including the main findings.

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors have analyzed the factors affecting children's mental health during home quarantine from the perspective of family composition.

The topic is interesting.

I have some suggestions for authors to improve the manuscript.

Abstract

Lines 10-12: Replace with "This study aimed to analyze the factors affecting ..."

Key Words: Replace the following keywords "mental health; China" with keywords other than those in the title. It is a suggestion for optimizing the search for the manuscript through search engines.

Introduction

Please shorten the Introduction (No more than 1000 words.). It is too long and makes reading tiring. It doesn't have to be an exhaustive review of your overall topic. It should focus on the specific hypothesis/goal of your study. Detailed descriptions, speculations, and criticisms of particular studies must be included in the discussions.

Please indicate the introduction with the first paragraph only (if necessary add some subparagraphs). The second paragraph will indicate the Materials and Methods.

Materials and Methods

Line 282: Replace "Methods" with "Statistical analysis".

Also, the statistical significance has been set at what value of p? Please add.

The methodology used is correctly explained. The statistics used are appropriate.

Results

The Results have been correctly written.

Discussion

They are written clearly and to point.

The limitations are appropriate.

Conclusions

The take-home message and practical implications are clear.
