Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

It is not clear what the social welfare means in this paper and how it is related to green production in the introduction. Social welfare is never properly defined and explained how it is operationalised in this paper.

The demand function was not clear for readers, what do the notations t and x mean, respectively, in the utility functions on Lines 181 and 185-186? It leads to incorrect or unreasonable modelling in the following context.

The propositions are not clearly explained. The authors simply give some discussion. They do not link it with the rationale of the game theory and examine the reasons for these results.

Regarding the conclusion, there are so many intuitive results, such as Conclusion (i)(ii) and part of (iii) in the Abstract. The author should carry out more analyses to highlight the motivation and the purpose of this study.

The in-text referencing style is incorrect (no need to insert initials).

Author Response

Point 1: It is not clear what the social welfare means in this paper and how it is related to green production in the introduction. Social welfare is never properly defined and explained how it is operationalised in this paper.

Response 1: In introduction, we define the social welfare and explain what the social welfare means on Lines 71-73. We explain how the green production is related to the social welfare on Lines 70-73.

Point 2: The demand function was not clear for readers, what do the notations t and x mean, respectively, in the utility functions on Lines 181 and 185-186? It leads to incorrect or unreasonable modelling in the following context.

Response 2: In section 3, we add literature [30] and establish the demand function by referring to literature [30] on Lines 231-232. t and x are clearly explained in the utility function on Lines 242-245.

Point 3: The propositions are not clearly explained. The authors simply give some discussion. They do not link it with the rationale of the game theory and examine the reasons for these results.

Response 3: In section 5, for the propositions that do not explicitly explain the cause of the result, we explain the cause of the result clearly on Lines 413-414,415-419,442-444,455-462,477,491-493 and 503-505. The Hotelling model is used to consider the duopoly competition in the market. The products produced are the same in material properties, but there are horizontal differences, such as spatial location, shape and appearance. In section 3, we give the specific game order, and obtain the corresponding equilibrium solution and the optimal social welfare value by backward induction method. Through the comparative analysis and comparative static analysis of these optimal values, the corresponding conclusions are obtained, which are completely based on the rationale of game theory, solving steps and analysis methods.

Point 4: Regarding the conclusion, there are so many intuitive results, such as Conclusion (i)(ii) and part of (iii) in the Abstract. The author should carry out more analyses to highlight the motivation and the purpose of this study.

Response4: We improve the conclusion(i)(ii) and part of (iii) in the abstract on Lines 21-34, and highlight the motivation and the purpose in both abstract on Lines 12-15, and introduction on Lines 61-69.

Point 5: The in-text referencing style is incorrect (no need to insert initials).

Response 5: We modify the in-text referencing style in the whole text.

Reviewer 2 Report

The article Impact of Green Production Decision on Social Welfare is focused on green production. In abstract should authors add aim of the paper and mentioned the results.

In introduction should be the aim and methods described. The green production is important part of sustainable development.

The authors decribed  why this topic is important for sustantability. It could be interesting if authors add another world  authors literature- Rothenberg, Green or others to see the difference in the importance of green production all over the world.

The methodology should be underline by literature references.

In conclusion the recommendation based on the model analysis is missing.

Author Response

Point 1: The article Impact of Green Production Decision on Social Welfare is focused on green production. In abstract should authors add aim of the paper and mentioned the results.

Response 1: In abstract, we add the significance of the paper on Lines 12-15 and improve the results on Lines 21-34.

Point 2: In introduction should be the aim and methods described. The green production is important part of sustainable development.

Response 2: First, we add the significance of the paper in introduction on Lines 86-90. Second, we describe the methods briefly in the introduction on Lines 79-85, and in section 3, we describe the methods in detail.

Point 3: The authors described why this topic is important for sustainability. It could be interesting if authors add another world authors literature- Rothenberg, Green or others to see the difference in the importance of green production all over the world.

Response 3: In introduction, we fully study the recommended literatures, such as Rothenberg and Green, find some valuable points, and the difference in the importance of green production all over the world on Lines 61-67. We study and use above in our paper, to improve our study a lot.

Point 4: The methodology should be underline by literature references.

Response4: In section 3, we add literature [30] by your valuable suggestion, and the methodology is established based on literature [30] on Lines 231-232.

Point 5: In conclusion the recommendation based on the model analysis is missing.

Response 5: In conclusion, we add corresponding recommendations based on the model on Lines 585-591,602-606 and 611-612.
