Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Thank you for having given to me the privilege to read this interesting paper. It is a well written and comprehensive review on the endoscopic treatment of gastric cancer.

My only point are the 2 tables, which, in my mind, are not clear:

the title of the tables are:

Indications of endoscopic resection of gastric cancer

Curability of endoscopic resection of gastric cancer

Both Indications and curability are not the names of the lines or column but are within the text.  This makes in my mand the tables not very clear.

Author Response

The authors thank the reviewer for this helpful comment. To better emphasize absolute indications and eCuraA, both were changed to bold on pages 2 and 5, in the Endoscopic screening and diagnosis. We have improved the points you pointed out to make it easier to convey the intent of the text. Thank you for your advice.

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors presented a concise review of endoscopic treatment of gastric cancer. However, I'd like to address a few issues:

- Please provide information on the literature search for this review.

- Most of the manuscript describes the treatment of Early Gastric Cancer, therefore the title might be a bit misleading. Consider adding a paragraph on the role of endoscopy in the palliative setting.

- Additionally, lymph node involvement in GC seems to be of vital importance, regardless of the clinical stage. Please add an appropriate paragraph, taking into account the multimodal treatment (eg. doi.org/10.3390/cancers13102509)

Author Response

1.    Please provide information on the literature search for this review.

Re: The authors thank the reviewer for this constructive advice. This article is not a systematic review, so a systematic literature search has not been conducted.

2.  Most of the manuscript describes the treatment of Early Gastric Cancer, therefore the title might be a bit misleading. Consider adding a paragraph on the role of endoscopy in the palliative setting.

We appreciate your comment. Indeed, as the comment states, the manuscript focusses on the treatment of early gastric cancer. As it stands, the title is misleading to the reader. Based on the reviewer’s comment, we revised the title: “Endoscopic Treatment of Superficial Gastric Cancer: Present Status and Future. ”

3. Additionally, lymph node involvement in GC seems to be of vital importance, regardless of the clinical stage. Please add an appropriate paragraph, taking into account the multimodal treatment (eg. doi.org/10.3390/cancers13102509)

Re: The authors thank the reviewer for this constructive advice. As you point out, lymph node metastasis of GC is extremely important regardless of the clinical stage. However, the manuscript focusses on the treatment of early gastric cancer. As an alternative, we have added the following description in the revised manuscript: “As mentioned above, endoscopic curability is assessed by risk factors for lymph node metastasis because lymph node metastasis of GC is extremely important regardless of the clinical stage (8, 21, 65),” on page 7, lines 275–276, in the Future perspectives. Thank you for your advice.
