Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper "Chlorogenic acid prevents UVA-induced skin photoaging through regulating collagen metabolism and apoptosis in human dermal fibroblasts" submitted to IJMS as research paper is a very intriguing paper reporting innovative data about the role of CGA in skin damage.

The paper is well organized and the data are presented in order to explain what is the role of CGA. Some little points must be revised:

the statistical analysis is missing in figure 3, but not specified why.

figure 6: quantification of the blots must be reported.

try to explain why RAD51 was selected. why not p21?

Reviewer 2 Report

This is an experimental study in which the aim is to highlight the photoprotective effect on the skin of chlorogenic acid induced by UVA rays. It also attempts to explain reaction mechanisms at the molecular and protein expression levels. The results are promising and it is necessary to continue in this line of research, for example by carrying out toxicity tests. It seems to me a correct work, well designed, with clear figures and a good introduction.

Thank you very much for these precious comments concerning my manuscript entitled “Chlorogenic Acid Prevents UVA-Induced Skin Photoaging Through Regulating Collagen Metabolism and Apoptosis in Human Dermal Fibroblasts” (ijms-1765848).

These comments are all valuable and very helpful for improving my research. The toxicity tests of CGA were preliminary investigated in our previous experiments, we will further observe its toxic effects in follow-up studies.

We hope meet with approval!

Best regards!
