Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an emerging hot topic in the research on telecom and sensor systems, which we can use to design intelligent tools superior to human capacity intelligence processing. With the progress in computer science, AI is being progressively applied to all aspects of human life, from fundamental points like health and safety to food or hygiene. Currently, many AI-related technologies have come out of the laboratory and have made advances in many fields of application. Furthermore, data analysis techniques which assist in the detection and interpretation of information hidden in the data are widely used in several scientific fields. For example, they have been applied in telecommunications systems for the transmission of signals with a low signal-to-noise ratio, in medicine to investigate specific expression patterns of inflammatory cytokines in the aqueous humor which are associated with the pathophysiology of neovascular age-related macular degeneration, as a statistical diabetes disease prediction model, in spectroscopy for the classification of spectra from gold-bearing ores, in optical fiber sensors, in smart materials, and more.

This SI will be dedicated to progress, challenges, and current status in AI-related technologies for telecom and sensor systems. The requested research articles, including review articles, should be related to AI technologies for supporting, tracking, recognition and preventing systems, image analysis, and big data processing techniques in different and impactful fields such as environment, e-health, structural health monitoring, oceans, intensive aquaculture, agriculture, biomedicine, psychology, and space, among others. High-quality manuscript submissions describing future advances or ongoing work are welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Telecom is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
