Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Inflation is a graceful solution to the monopole, horizon, and flatness problems in the standard Big Bang cosmology. The quantum fluctuations of the inflaton can provide the initial condition for the formation of the large-scale structure of our Universe, and these fluctuations—imprinted on the cosmic microwave background radiation—can be also used to test the inflationary scenario. Symmetries play an important role in the inflationary models. The nearly De Sitter symmetry of the spacetime at the inflation epoch guarantees the power spectrum to be nearly scale-invariant; the superconformal symmetry of the action gives the T/E models, which have good consistency with the observational data; the general attractor symmetry in the scalar–tensor theory imposes a challenge to distinguish different inflationary models; the dual symmetry between slow-roll and ultra-slow-roll inflationary models shows the inner connection between the slow-roll condition and ultra-slow-roll condition.

Thus, in the Special Issue “Symmetry in Inflationary Cosmology”, we would like to focus on the topics about the slow-roll inflation, ultra-slow roll inflation, constant-roll inflation, the attractor phenomenon, and other symmetries in the inflationary models.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Symmetry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

We study the constant-roll tachyon inflation with large and small η. In previous studies, only the constant-roll tachyon inflation with small η is consistent with the observations. We find that the duality between the constant-roll tachyon inflation with large and small η may exist. The apparent duality suggests that the constant-roll tachyon inflationary model with large η may also be consistent with the observations. By fitting the spectral tilde ns and tensor to scalar ratio r, which is a measure of primordial gravitational waves with the observations, we get small and large η in this range 0.01629ηH0.00079 and 3.00081ηH3.01621 at the 2σ C.L for N=60 efolds.
